Principles of TGNI

The Good Neighbour International (TGNI) is an equal opportunity, volunteer, non-government organisation that does not discriminate against any person because of race, colour, religion, physical or mental disability or sexual orientation.

We are committed to:

  • Addressing genuine need and working for justice for all, regardless of their religious background
  • Working with whole families, encouraging them to share in decision making process and ownership of assets
  • Valuing indigenous knowledge
  • Providing relevant training to participants
  • Accountability and transparency in all funding processes
  • Encouraging, sharing and caring as a means of addressing community problems
  • Environmentally responsible practices
  • Healthy and appropriate livestock management
  • Full participation of grass roots groups in project decision making
  • Affirming spirituality as a source of faith and hope
  • To work together for a better future.

We believe that development is a process, not a series of projects.

We believe that the role of TGNI is to facilitate sustainable change, not to control planning and decisions.

We believe that people can effect change when given the opportunity to do so.
